I think the title pretty much sums up what this page is about.
A little tidbit of information about me: I’m a reader; a hardcore one, at that. Books are
practically my entire life. I honestly have no idea how I’d survive without the feeling of fresh, crisp pages between my fingertips, or the sensation of entering another’s life that nearly every author creates in his or her work. Reading a good book is an absolute breath of fresh air amid the cloudy, muddled fog that is our current reality, and I live for those moments in my boring ol’ life.
“Review” is just another word for “my opinion”. And “my opinion” is particularly picky, so if I recommend a book to you, I really do mean it. I like to say that I have an eye for good books because I understand what components make a story especially amazing. The wording, for one, and the way the sentences are phrased. Then whether the characters are believable or not, whether the dialogue catches interest, and of course, the pleasantness story itself. If all those parts are top-notch, then bam, you’ve got a guaranteed recommendation from yours truly.
I read a variety of genres, but YA novels, romance, and – ahem – erotica, are a few of my favourites, so my reviews are generally going to lean more on that side of the genre scale. Don’t be expecting any horror story reviews from me, though; I absolutely cannot stand scary shit. Call me a pussy or whatever, but I’ll be keeping my mind off those topics to avoid wandering to the dark side of my imagination.
I get most of my book picks off Goodreads, particularly from a specific user who has the best taste in books (you can find her here). In the sidebar, there’s a list of books I’m currently reading; you should think about checking them out, too.
I’ll leave you with a quote that I live by:
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin
